Second meeting of the local network in Croatia

The meeting was attended by 12 participants, all of them representatives of non-governmental organizations dealing with hate crime.
The meeting was held after a round table on hate crime and hate speech reporting, organized by the Office for Human Rights and the Rights of National Minorities of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. Main topic was discussion of the reasons for under-reporting together with specific needs and most urgent problems of hate crime victims.

In the second part of the meeting, the following topics were discussed: Hate crimes are underreported; consequences of underreporting; how can CSO’s and relevant stakeholders improve the recording of hate crimes; role of CSO’s is to raise awareness on consequences of hate crime for society in whole and to influence on better understanding of this issue.

Third part of the meeting was dedicated to the key findings on HRHZ report “The system of support for hate crime victims in Croatia”.

Fourth part was the presentation of association Victim and Witness Support Service Croatia about the work with hate crime victims and the challenges they face.
